Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, 93, weds 63-year-old wife on birthday
Newlyweds "as excited as eloping teenagers."
Legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who in 1969 became the second person ever to have set foot on another astronomical body when he joined Neil Armstrong on the surface of the moon, wed his longtime companion Anca Faur this weekend.
The storied astronaut announced the wedding on his Twitter account. "On my 93rd birthday & the day I will also be honored by Living Legends of Aviation I am pleased to announce that my longtime love Dr. Anca Faur & I have tied the knot," he wrote.
"We were joined in holy matrimony in a small private ceremony in Los Angeles & are as excited as eloping teenagers," he added.
Aldrin was one of three astronauts, along with Armstrong and Michael Collins, to pilot the Apollo 11 mission that brought human beings to the surface of the moon for the first time.
