Actor Jonathan Majors of 'Ant Man' and 'Creed' fame arrested and charged in NYC domestic dispute
A representative for the Creed III actor told The Hollywood Reporter, "He has done nothing wrong."
Jonathan Majors, the actor from several major Hollywoood films, was arrested Saturday in New York after police responded to a 911 call from the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. Majors, 33, stands accused of assaulting a 30-year-old woman in a domestic dispute, according to a statement by the New York Police Department.
The 911 call was made by Majors who said his girlfriend was causing problems, according to The New York Daily News, but when the police arrived, they noticed it was the woman who was injured. Majors was immediately taken into custody without incident.
A representative for the Creed III actor told The Hollywood Reporter, "He has done nothing wrong," a representative for the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. "We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up."
Majors most recently starred in "Creed III," but may be best known for his role as Kang in several Marvel Studio movies, including "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."
"The victim informed police she was assaulted. Officers placed the 33-year-old male into custody without incident," according to the NYPD statement, which identified Majors as the male in the dispute. The woman went to the hospital having sustained what were characterized as minor injuries to her head and neck.
Majors was arrested and charged with strangulation, assault and harassment, according to his spokesperson. His relationship with the woman was described as "domestic," and he was later released from police custody without bail after pleading not guilty, according to the NY Daily News.
Majors holds a masters degree in Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama.
