Arrest made in apparent random stabbing spree in Albuquerque by BMX rider, injuring 11

Police in New Mexico have made an arrest in connection with a series of seemingly random stabbings that began Sunday in downtown Albuquerque.

No deaths have resulted from the spree, though two people were in critical condition following the attacks, according to a spokesperson for the city's police department. 

Police are investigating seven crime scenes (one a homeless encampment) at which people were apparently randomly stabbed.

Police department spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said there "doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason" for the crimes.

He also said the suspect in custody was reportedly riding a small BMX bike and armed with a large knife.

The man in custody was apprehended with a knife.

"He was talking crazy, he was angry about something," said a man who robbed by the alleged attack shortly before he was taken into custody.
