At least 13 wounded, injured in Chicago in Halloween night drive-by shooting
One witness said the first responders were so overwhelmed they could not help an injured teen girl.
At least 13 people, including three children, were either wounded or injured Monday night in a drive-by shooting in Chicago's West Side, according to multiple news reports.
The Chicago Police Department said the ages of the three injured children are 3, 11 and 13. The remaining victims are adults, Fox News reported. A person was also hit by a car, police said, without providing any further information about that victim.
So far, no deaths have been reported, but authorities have said the victims are in "various conditions."
One witness said the first responders were so overwhelmed they could not help an injured teen girl.
The shooting occurred at a street corner where a group of people were meeting for a vigil, authorities told CNN.
“There may have also been others gathered for other various reasons, Brown added. “It’s a very, you know, common corner where people congregate and have different meetings and gatherings.”
"We picked up another girl, a little girl, about 13, and we brought her to that ambulance," the witness said. "But the ambulance driver said, 'No, we can't bring her in because you have people worse.' So we just sat her on the bumper."
Chicago is in the top 10 U.S. cities for homicide cases per 100,000 residents.
