D.C. funeral shooting sees 1 dead, 3 injured
Neither the motive of the shooter nor the number of suspects involved is known to authorities as of press time.
One person has died and three more sustained injuries following a Tuesday shooting at the funeral of a recent homicide victim in Washington, D.C.
Neither the motive of the shooter nor the number of suspects involved is known to authorities as of press time, D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Contee indicated, according to the Washington Times. Contee stated that some individuals on the block were "specifically targeted."
"It’s unfortunate that someone would be so brazen to do such an act, let alone at a funeral. How low can you be as a human being to target other people at a funeral?" he said. An officer was stationed at the building at the family's request.
The incident occurred at the Stewart Funeral Home around noon, shortly after the funeral had ended, NBC Washington reported.
The three who were injured sustained non-life threatening injuries and have been taken to the hospital to receive treatment.
