Former Trump Org CFO Allen Weisselberg released from Rikers Island early
The former Trump executive has been reunited with his family, according to his lawyer Seth Rosenberg, and his release was also confirmed by New York City's Department of Corrections.
Former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg was released early on Friday from Rikers Island, after serving just three of his five-month prison sentence for lying under oath.
Weisselberg, 76, pleaded guilty to two counts of perjury in March, and was sentenced to five months at Rikers Island in April. The retired CFO was also served 100 days at Rikers Island in 2023 for charges related to a tax fraud scheme.
The former Trump executive has been reunited with his family, according to his lawyer Seth Rosenberg, and his release was also confirmed by New York City's Department of Corrections, the Associated Press reported.
“Allen Weisselberg accepted responsibility for his conduct and now looks forward to the end of this life-altering experience and to returning to his family and his retirement," Rosenberg said after Weisselberg's sentencing in April.
Weisselberg admitted to lying to prosecutors about how and when he learned that former President Donald Trump's Manhattan penthouse was overvalued on his financial statements. In exchange to pleading guilty to the perjury, he was absolved of any other crimes he possibly committed when employed by the Trump Organization.
The former financial officer also testified in the Trump Organization's fraud trial, and another Trump trial, where he argued that the former president never committed any serious wrongdoing.
