Famed Hollywood actor and director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead Sunday at their Los Angeles home, and police are investigating their deaths as a double homicide.

Los Angeles police confirmed two victims the same age as the couple were found stabbed to death in Reiner’s home, but declined to identify the victims. A family spokesman, however, confirmed the couple had died.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” a family spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal.

The Associated Press and The New York Post reported a family member is being questioned by police in the incident.

LAPD said, however, they had no suspects in custody and were leaving the case to its robbery and homicide division.

Police are "not seeking anyone as a suspect, or as a person of interest or in any other manner, and we will not be doing that until we conduct our investigation and move forward," LAPD Deputy Chief Allen Hamilton said.

Reiner, 78, and his wife, 68, were staples in the Hollywood community as well as in liberal politics, falling in love around the time he directed the hit movie When Harry Met Sally.

Accolades from across the world began pouring in Sunday night, as well as expressions of sorrow.

“This is a devastating loss for our city and our country. Rob Reiner's contributions reverberate throughout American culture and society, and he has improved countless lives through his creative work and advocacy fighting for social and economic justice,” Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said.

Former President Barack Obama also weighed in with a tribute.

"Michelle and I are heartbroken by the tragic passing of Rob Reiner and his beloved wife, Michele,” former president said in a statement. “Rob's achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people—and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action."

Reiner was born into Hollywood royalty, the son of the legendary comic Carl Reiner, and he rose to fame on his own accord as Archie Bunker’s bumbling hippie son-in-law Meathead on the 1970s hit TV series All in the Family.

In the decades that ensued, Reiner would produce, direct or star in some of America’s most iconic movies including A Few Good Men, The Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally.

He also blazed a path as an unapologetic liberal activist, and strong critic of President Donald Trump, and became a fixture in the Democratic Party’s strong bastion in Hollywood.
