Man accused of shooting Maryland judge found dead after manhunt
Wilkinson had given Argote's estranged wife custody of their four children the day he was shot.
The man accused of murdering the Maryland judge who oversaw his divorce proceedings has been found dead after a manhunt, police said Thursday.
Pedro Argote, 49, was found dead in a "heavily wooded area" near Williamsport, Maryland, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.
Police were searching for Argote and offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that could lead to his arrest after he allegedly shot Judge Andrew Wilkinson, 52, in the driveway of his home last week.
Wilkinson had given Argote's estranged wife custody of their four children during a hearing which Argote was not present on the day that the judge was shot, according to NBC News.
Argote's cause of death has not been identified and police have a press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. local time.
