Multiple shooters in downtown Sacramento early Sunday left six people dead and at least 12 wounded, police said.

The shooting occurred in the vicinity of a nightclub, and the Sacramento Police Department stated that it is "aware of a social media video that appears to show an altercation that preceded the shooting."

Law enforcement is working to determine whether the videos of the fights are connected to the shooting.

Journalist Andy Ngo posted a video on Twitter of the brawl, which broke up when people ran after hearing gunshots.

Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester said the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. and left three women and three men dead.

Several city blocks have been taken over by the investigation.

This is “a very complex and complicated scene,” she told The Associated Press as she asked for the public’s help.
