Shooting at Wisconsin Christian school leaves at least 3 dead, including juvenile shooter: police
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said several others were wounded.
At least three people were killed Monday in a mass shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wis., including the juvenile shooter, police said.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said several others were wounded and the shooter is among those who have been pronounced dead. Police corrected an earlier statement that said five had died, NBC News reported.
Police announced at a press conference that a teacher and a student were killed by the shooter, who was a teenage student at the school. No age or gender has been released for the suspected shooter as of press time.
Video footage on social media showed dozens of police cars and firetrucks outside the building on Monday.
Police also said the incident "remains an active and ongoing investigation." Authorities from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were also dispatched.
“We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information and are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond,” Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers said in a statement.
