The mother of the 6-year-old who shot his first-grade teacher in Virginia pleaded guilty to a felony child neglect charge on Tuesday after her son used her handgun in January to critically wound Abby Zwerner in a classroom.
Deja Taylor entered a plea agreement with prosecutors, who in exchange said they will not seek a sentence longer than state guidelines, which would be six months in jail or prison. The charge of reckless storage of a firearm was dropped.

She was charged with felony child neglect and misdemeanor of recklessly storing a firearm in April.
Police said Zwerner was shot in the hand and chest as she sat at a table in the class in the Newport News elementary school. She spent nearly two weeks in the hospital.
