Multiple Easter weekend mass shootings leave more than 30 injured, 2 dead across the US

Three mass shootings in Pittsburg and South Carolina over Easter weekend have left more than 30 people injured and two dead.

At least 9 people were injured early Sunday morning at a lounge in Hampton County, South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division said, according to The Associated Press.

A shooting at a house party in Pittsburgh resulted in the deaths of two minors and at least eight injuries, police said. As many as 50 rounds were fired at the party with hundreds of people at an AirBnB rental, and some fleeing attendees were also injured after jumping out of windows during the incident, authorities stated.

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey called for gun-control legislation in response to the shooting.

On Saturday a gunman opened fire at a mall in Columbia, S.C., about 90 miles north of the nightclub shooting in the state the following morning, the AP noted.

Nine people were shot at the mall, and five were injured while trying to flee the area.

Jewayne M. Price, 22, was arrested by the Columbia Police Department in connection to the shooting. 

The victims range in age from 15 to 73, and the eldest victim is in the hospital for treatment still.

Columbia Chief W.H. Holbrook said that officials do not believe the shooting was random. 

"We believe they knew each other and something led to the gunfire," he said.

The shootings come as Americans are getting more concerned about crime.

A Gallup survey earlier this month found that most Americans worry about crime, with 53% worried a "great deal" and 27% worried a "fair amount."
