Nashville college student dies after being shot at a park

A Belmont University student died after being shot in the head while walking on the track in a park, according to authorities.
18-year-old Jillian Ludwig died from injuries late Tuesday night, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The suspect, Shaquille Taylor, has been taken into custody, NBC News reports.
He has faced multiple separate charges. In 2021, he was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the outlet. Taylor was ultimately released for incompetence to stand trial in that shooting.

“This is a lot for us all to process," Belmont University President Lorentz Gregory Jones said in a statement, according to local media.
"We grapple now with grief, anger, anxiety and a strong sense of fear in the face of senseless violence…we will be working with campus leaders and area pastors to organize additional resources to assist our community over the next few days and throughout the weekend," the statement continued.
