A suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody.
Nine people were injured in a shooting outside of the Denver Nuggets' arena as fans celebrated the Colorado basketball team's first NBA championship win, police said early Tuesday.
A suspect also sustained a gunshot wound and three of the victims are in critical condition, the Denver Police Department also said. The investigation is ongoing.
Officials said the shooting occurred less than a mile from Denver's Ball Arena on Market Street, where numerous restaurants and bars are located.
Thousands of fans had taken to the streets to celebrate the Nuggets' 94-89 NBA Finals victory over the Miami Heat after Game 5.
Denver Police Spokesperson Doug Schepman said the shooting happened about three-and-a-half hours after Denver's victory and that the suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody.
