San Francisco 49ers first round pick Ricky Pearsall shot in chest during robbery
Ricky Pearsall reportedly in stable condition.
San Francisco’s persistent crime wave claimed another victim Saturday as rookie NFL wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest during a botched robbery, the mayor announced.
The 23-year-old Pearsall, the No. 1 pick of the San Francisco 49ers, was reported in stable condition.
“This afternoon, there was an attempted robbery in Union Square involving San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and he was shot,” Mayor London Breed announced on X.
“SFPD was on scene immediately and an arrest of the shooter was made,” she added. “My thoughts are with Ricky and his family at this time.”
City Supervisor Aaron Peskin told the local NBC affiliate that Pearsall survived and was hospitalized in stable condition.
Local news media said Pearsall was being robbed for his Rolex watch when he grabbed the robber’s gun during a struggle.
Pearsall was just a week away from making his NFL regular season debut against the New York Jets on Sept. 9. He was taken with the 31st pick in the NFL Draft last April after a successful college career at Arizona State and Florida
