TSA agents find diaper loaded with 17 bullets in New York airport
The man at first said he did not know how the diaper made it into his carry-on, and he later said it must have been his girlfriend who placed it there.
Transportation Security Administration agents at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport discovered a loaded diaper, although it was not filled with what you would think.
Agents discovered a disposable baby diaper with 17 bullets in the carry-on bag of an Arkansas man after it triggered an alarm in an X-ray machine, the TSA said Wednesday.
The man told officials at first "he did not know how the bullet-filled diaper came to be in his carry-on bag," but he later said his girlfriend must have placed it there with 9mm ammunition, according to officials.
"Apparently this guy needs a bullet-proof plan for packing his carry-on bag before heading to the airport for his next flight," the TSA said.
The Port Authority Police cited the man for unlawful possession of ammunition.
Also on Wednesday, the TSA announced that officers at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, stopped a man from carrying a loaded handgun onto a flight.
The TSA has seen a spike in the number of guns discovered at airport checkpoints throughout the country this year.
