President Biden and Democrats in Congress are pushing to adopt stricter gun laws following the tragic mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas earlier this month.

Republicans, meanwhile, are arguing the key to preventing such massacres in the future isn't gun control but rather focusing on mental health, noting many mass shooters are mentally ill or emotionally disturbed.

Of course, the debate between guns and mental health isn't totally divided along partisan lines. But there's a public, politically contentious debate forming about which to prioritize in the effort to stop mass shootings in the U.S.
