Actor Wilford Brimley died Saturday at age 85
Brimley played roles both on television and on the big screen.
Wilford Brimley died at a Utah hospital on Saturday at the age of 85 years old.
"He had been on dialysis and had several medical ailments, said his manager, Lynda Bensky," the Washington Post reported. "He had been sick for two months with a kidney ailment," according to the New York Times, citing the same person.
Brimley played roles both on television and on the big screen. He had a recurring role on The Waltons television program, and acted in movies including Cocoon, Tender Mercies" and The Natural.
In addition to his work as a film and television actor, Brimley, who had diabetes, also did commercials for Liberty Medical and Quaker Oats.
Brimley is survived by his second wife, whom he married in 2007 following the death of his first wife in 2000, as well as by his three sons, all from his first marriage. Brimley also had a son who died during infancy.
