Actress Loni Anderson of the hit 1980s television series "WKRP in Cincinnati" died on Sunday at a Los Angeles hospital after a “prolonged” illness, according to her publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,” the Anderson family said in a statement.

She was days away from her 80th birthday.
