Bill Maher slams Biden for 'election Hail Mary pass' on immigration
"But he’s gonna finally try it six months before the election," Maher said.
Comedian Bill Maher criticized President Joe Biden's executive order on immigration as being a "Hail Mary" attempt to win the election, but he said it is doomed to fail.
Maher said Friday that if Biden loses the election, it will be due to two things: his age, which is 81, and immigration, which has seen record levels under his administration.
"This is the same executive order Trump tried to get through the courts and they didn’t let him do it," Maher said, according to the Daily Caller.
"But he’s gonna finally try it six months before the election, which says we’ll put a cap of 2,500 now asylum seekers coming in," Maher said.
"But when it goes down to 1,500, then we resume standard asylum procedures. It’s like surge pricing with Uber," he joked.
The order, issued last week, also contains numerous exceptions to still allow migrants into the United States. Meanwhile, U.S. Customs and Border Protection have recorded a record number of migrant encounters under Biden, with more than 3.2 million encounters last fiscal year alone, according to agency data.
