Former baseball star Schilling's insurance canceled after social posts supporting Capitol breach
Schilling's social media presence received backlash after he tweeted in support of the mob at the Capitol riot last week.
Former Boston Red Sox Pitcher Curt Schilling said on Twitter that his insurance company, AIG, canceled his insurance plan over his controversial tweets.
"We will be just fine, but wanted to let Americans know that @AIGinsurance canceled our insurance due to my 'Social Media profile,'" Schilling tweeted out Tuesday.
Some of Schilling's followers were skeptical of his claims that his insurance company canceled his plan over his social media profile. He responded with a screenshot showing the company's response to him.
It read that AIG canceling Schilling's insurance plan was "a management decision that was made collectively between underwriting and marketing teams that could not be overturned."
AIG did not respond to his tweets that tagged the insurance company's account, which Schilling said is evidence that it is accurate information because they would respond with a defamation lawsuit if it were not.
Schilling's social media presence received backlash after he tweeted in support of the mob at the Capitol riot last week where attendees of a pro-Trump rally stormed the building in protest of the Electoral College votes that would certify President-elect Joe Biden as the next president of the United States.
He said that the mob of people were protesting for something that mattered, such as rights, democracy and the end of government corruption. He also highlighted the hypocrisy of many critics of the mob at the Capitol who supported riots last year during the Black Lives Matter movement, following the death of George Floyd.
