Golden Tempo female trainer makes history with 2026 Kentucky Derby win

Trainer Cherie DeVaux became the first woman to win the Kentucky Derby

Golden Tempo won the 152nd Kentucky Derby on Saturday, delivering a historic breakthrough for female trainers.

The 3-year-old bay colt surged down the stretch in the 1 1/8-mile race, earning trainer Cherie DeVaux her first Triple Crown victory. 

She became the first woman to win the Kentucky Derby and only the second to capture any Triple Crown race.

Golden Tempo reportedly entered the derby with 23-1 odds.
