High school football team displays Thin Blue Line flag despite ban: report

California high school football players displayed the Thin Blue Line flag at a game despite a ban on the pro-police flag by the school.

Most of the players on the Saugus High School football team came onto the field Friday night carrying the Saugus Strong flag and other traditional flags, but two players arrived with an American flag and the Thin Blue Line flag, The Santa Clarita Valley Signal reported.

The player with the Thin Blue Line flag stood an extra moment to wave the flag in front of the crowd to applause.

Football coach Jason Bornn made the decision to stop displaying the flag, Fox News said.

Hart School District Superintendent Mike Kuhlman reportedly did not consult with the board, but wrote in a letter that the coach received complaints that the flag was "divisive."

"In deference to his commitment to inclusivity, kindness and respect (just loving people), and because the team never voted as a unit to carry this banner, Coach decided to discontinue this practice," the superintendent said.
