Michigan Wolverines football coach Jim Harbaugh will reportedly leave the team to become the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, according to ESPN.

The move comes after Harbaugh's Wolverines claimed the championship title earlier this month, triumphing over the Washington Huskies 34-13 in the College Football Playoffs.

The victory followed a scandal over in-person scouting that saw the Big Ten Conference suspend Harbaugh from coaching games in November through the remainder of the regular season.

Harbaugh was the quarterback for the Chargers from 1999-2000 while the team was based in San Diego. As a coach, he previously led the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2014.
