Kevin Sorbo says men are being emasculated in the US, discusses new book to address the problem
"The emasculating of men in our country has been going on for decades," Sorbo said.
Actor and producer Kevin Sorbo says there is an attack on masculinity in the U.S. and says his new book addresses the crisis and encourages boys to be boys.
"The emasculating of men in our country has been going on for decades," Sorbo said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "It's just really accelerated over the last 10 to 12 years. Basically, we want to do a book about letting boys become boys and I'm all for that."
Sorbo's new book is titled "The Test of Lionhood," and is published by Brave Books.
Sorbo added that sitcoms have had a negative portrayal of men for years and that needs to be changed.
"Most sitcoms, if you just think about it – the man is always kind of chunky, a little overweight and kind of dopey," he said. "The mom is kind of hot. You got the teenage kids that are just equal to Dad and just rude to him. They are very sarcastic and mean."
He said that his book encourages both genders to be themselves and embrace both masculinity and femininity.
"This book really calls for boys to be boys and girls to be girls," he said. "And there's a place in the world for both sides here."
