Swedish driver Marcus Ericsson won the 2022 Indianapolis 500 on Sunday with a showdown during the final two laps.

The 31-year-old Ericsson previously had two IndyCar wins, with one in Detroit and another in Nashville in 2021, USA Today reported.

There were several crashes throughout the race, starting with 21-year-old Dutch driver Rinus Veekay crashing on lap 39, followed by rookie driver Callum Ilott 30 laps later.

Driver Jimmie Johnson crashed with just six laps left in the race, leading to a red flag with a 12-minute stoppage that set Ericksson up to speed to the front.

He went on to celebrate with the traditional glass of milk after the race.
