Tiger Woods and Nike end 27-year partnership
Woods thanked Nike and alluded to his future plans.
Nike and legendary golfer Tiger Woods both announced Monday that their iconic partnership has ended after more than 27 years.
Woods' endorsement of Nike began in 1996 and reportedly netted him more than $500 million over the course of the deal's lifetime, according to Forbes, helping Woods become one of three professional athletes to be a billionaire.
"It was a hell of a round, Tiger," Nike said in a post on Instagram featuring a picture of Woods. "You challenged the entire institution of golf. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And for that challenge we’re grateful."
Woods thanked Nike on X, formerly Twitter, and he alluded to future plans.
"People will ask if there is another chapter. Yes, there will certainly be another chapter. See you in LA!" Woods wrote.
It is unclear whether Woods, 48, was referring to another partnership or to continuing his career.
