Tiger Woods says intends to play at Masters, after 2021 car crash, terrible leg injury

Woods made announcement after playing at least one practice round at Augusta

Golf legend Tiger Woods indicated Tuesday that he intends to play this week at the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia.

"As of right now, I feel like I am going to play," he told reporters, after playing at least one practice round this week at Augusta.

The 46-year-old Woods severely injured his leg in a February 2021 when he crashed an SUV in Southern California. 

Doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to fix his right leg inserted a rod into his tibia, or lower leg bone, in addition to putting screws and pins into his foot and ankle.

Woods is considered one of the greatest golfers in history – being tied for first in PGA Tour wins and ranked No. 2 for the number of men's Major championships. He's also had at least one major knee surgery and five back operations.
