Victor Willis, lead vocalist for the Village People, dies at 74

Victor Willis, lead singer of the Village People, died at 74.
"It is with profound sadness that I must announce the death of my husband, VICTOR WILLIS. Victor passed away on Tuesday June 30, 2026 as a result of a short, but aggressive illness. The family request privacy at this time of great loss," a statement on Facebook said.
Willis co-wrote the bands hits including "Y.M.C.A." and "Macho Man." The group became international stars in the 1970s with stage performances that included the band members dressing up in masculine-focused costumes. Willis' stage costume was the policeman.
