Spain defeats Argentina to win World Cup final 1-0

Spain defeated defending champions Argentina to win the World Cup final 1-0 on Sunday.

The game was tied at the end of regulation time and went to an extra 15-minute period.

The final took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

President Trump will present the winning team with the World Cup trophy. Trump and the first lady flew over the stadium before the start of the game, photos from Getty Images showed.

Grammy award-winning artist Jennifer Hudson kicked off the game with a performance of the U.S. National Anthem.

Recording artists Robbie Williams, Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini performed the song, "Desire."

Actor Tom Cruise delivered a speech about the World Cup uniting the world.

The National Anthem of Spain was performed as well as the National Anthem of Argentina.

The halftime show featured Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and more.
