Disney weighs moving some California operations to Florida, as Newsom continues shutdowns

The Walt Disney Company is considering moving some of its operation to Florida from its Southern California amusement park, amid Democratic Gov. Gavin Newson's continuing coronavirus shutdowns.

Disney has incurred one billion dollars in expenses relating to virus safety initiatives and is expected to lay off 32,000 employees, according to the Washington Examiner. 

"As the largest employer in central Florida, we are always exploring opportunities for additional locations within the vicinity of our theme park, but there is nothing concrete," a Disney spokesperson said. 

The company's theme park in Florida is in Orlando. The theme park in California is in Anaheim. 

Newsom's orders have kept Disney shut down and residents under stay-at-home orders. Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis has vowed to keep the state open.
