The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 600 points on Tuesday morning. The S&P 500 is up 2% following the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Some traders are back on the floor at the New York Stock Exchange. Governor Andrew Cuomo rang the opening bell as onlookers cheered. The iconic trading floor had been closed since March 23 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was the longest stretch of time in the NYSE's history that the floor had been shut down.

Oil prices continue to rebound from a period that saw historic lows. The Dow is back above 25,000 and the S&P 500 has cleared the 3,000 threshold. These are all positive indicators for market recovery, as the country begins to reopen.

President Trump tweeted about the positive market outlook.

All 50 U.S. states, with the notable exception of the nation's capital, Washington, DC, have begun to ease coronavirus restrictions.
