An Ex-Navy lieutenant said U.S. pilots had seen unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, off the Atlantic Coast and calls them a very real national security risk.

U.S. Navy Lt. Ryan Graves also on Sunday told CBS's "60 Minutes" the pilots had seen UFOs "every day for at least a couple years."

Graves said he began seeing UFOs hovering over restricted airspace southeast of Virginia Beach in 2014 when his jet squad updated their planes radar, allowing them to see the objects with infrared targeting cameras. Graves said it is "pretty hard to spoof that."

Graves told the news shows he has three possible explanations: secret U.S. technology, an adversary's spy vehicle, or something otherworldly. Graves, however, believes the objects to be "threat observation programs" from Russia or China.

"Whatever is out there is a security risk," Grave said.
