Far-left predominates among anti-Semitic attacks as Dems debate Jewish VP nominee
While Democrats consider nominating a Jewish VP, far-left extremists predominate in anti-Semitic attacks
Global anti-Semitism is on the rise, dominated by the far left, as Democrats mull over nominating a Jewish vice presidential candidate, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro.
The Combat Antisemitism Movement, monitoring 108 incidents, reports the far left predominates among attributable attacks. The far left accounted for 42.6% of attacks, compared to Islamists accounting for 28.7% of attacks and the far right accounting for 5.6% of attacks. The rest were considered unattributable.
In Shapiro's home state, anti-Semitic vandals targeted a synagogue and the Jewish Federation in Pittsburgh not far from the site of the deadliest anti-Semitic attack in American history.
Shapiro condemned the attack, which occurred near the scene of the 2018 Tree of Life Synagogue attack, when a white supremacist killed 11 Jews and injured six others.
Anti-Semitic incidents abroad include taunting Israeli Olympic soccer players with chants of "Heil Hitler" and Nazi salutes during an Israel-Paraguay match.
In Canada, anti-Semitic vandals targeted Jewish schools and synagogues in Toronto and Calgary. Canadian police report a 71% increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes over last year.
Closer to home, the University of California, Los Angeles, failed its Jewish students so thoroughly that a federal judge ordered the institution "to formulate a strategy to safeguard its Jewish students following a lawsuit against the school filed by three Jewish students."
