Severe tornado rips through Andover, Kansas, leveling dozens of buildings
Major power outage hits town; no fatalities reported.
A severe tornado blew through the town of Andover, Kan., on Friday, the latest violent weather event in what has been a markedly active tornado season in the U.S. thus far.
Footage on social media showed the twister kicking up dust and causing major electrical flashes as it cut a path across the eastern Texas town located just a few miles outside of Wichita.
Subsequent video showed significant destruction in parts of Andover in the tornado's wake.
Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly issued a state of emergency on Friday in response to both the Andover tornado and several other twisters that had hit the state starting Thursday.
