Destructive storms leave thousands of Texans without power
Over Memorial Day weekend, storms swept across Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas and killed 24 people in total.
Thousands of Texans are without power due to weekend tornadoes that swept through the Lone Star State, killing at least seven people in Cooke County alone and injuring more than 100.
It is estimated that about 750,000 people in Texas are without power, according to CNN.
Over Memorial Day weekend, storms swept across Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas, with the north Dallas area and northwestern corner of Arkansas sustaining the most damage, according to The Associated Press. At least 22 people have died, in total.
Multiple counties in Texas are still under a severe thunderstorm watch going into Tuesday afternoon.
Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott warned people to stay safe due to there being an "enhanced risk" of storms with damaging winds and hail.
"Be weather aware today," he wrote on the social media platform, X. "Stay tuned to local weather and heed local warnings. Be safe."
