A breach that was part of a major worldwide cyberattack earlier this year impacted roughly 1.3 million people in Maine, the state recently revealed.

The cyberattack occurred in May and exploited vulnerabilities in a widely used MOVEit file-transfer system. A Russian ransomware group was reportedly responsible for the attack.

Federal agencies such as the Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Energy were also impacted, according to The Hill, as were 70 million people worldwide.

Maine revealed on Thursday some of the data that was breached included names, Social Security numbers, birthdays, medical information and health insurance information.

The breach also impacted residents' drivers license data from Louisiana and Oregon, Axios reported

Colorado was also impacted by the breach via the  Department of Health Care Policy & Financing, according to local reports

Those who had their Social Security number or taxpayer identification numbers leaked in the breach are eligible for two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.

There is currently an ongoing investigation into the attack.
