The Yankee Stadium spectator who ran on the field waiving a Palestinian flag Friday, the 25th anniversary of the 9–11 attacks, has been identified as a Long Island resident. 

The person has been identified as Kelly Marcucci. The incident occurred during a baseball game between the New York Yankees and the New York Mets at about 9:10 p.m. ET.

Marcucci allegedly entered the field of play from the left-field seats and sprinted toward center field. He briefly evaded several police officers and stadium security before being detained.

He faces two charges: a misdemeanor for interfering with a professional sporting event and a violation for trespassing, according to The New York Times's sports section, The Atlantic. 

The Athletic writes that a message from a Facebook account that appears to belong to Marcucci states that he loves the U.S. and “that the nature of the protest makes people uncomfortable, to confront truths that they may not want to accept.”
