The Texas Senate approved a new congressional map early Saturday, which is now heading to Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's desk.

The new map contains five new congressional districts that lean Republican.

Texas Democrats have said they plan to challenge the new map in court.

Texas Democrats had left the state to prevent a vote on the new map.

They ultimately returned to Austin and the map was eventually passed.
