Amazon's new prescription service offers 'unlimited' meds for $5 per month

Amazon this week unveiled a new service the company has dubbed "RxPass," a feature that will reportedly allow consumers access to medication at significant cost reductions relative to market prices. 

The company said in a press release that the service will allow Prime members to receive "all of their eligible medications for one flat, low monthly fee of $5, and have them delivered free of charge."

"Any customer who pays more than $10 a month for their eligible medications will see their prescription costs drop by 50% or more," Amazon Pharmacy Vice President John Love said in the announcement. 

Users will still have to provide a valid doctor's prescription in order to access medications through the service. 

The company had already launched Amazon Pharmacy in late 2020, offering slower deliveries for prescription medication.
