FAA greenlights expansion of Amazon drone delivery service

The Amazon Prime Air delivery service can now fly drones “beyond visual line of sight,” according to a company blog post.

Amazon announced on Thursday that the Federal Aviation Administration has given the company the authority to expand its drone delivery service.

The Amazon Prime Air delivery service can now fly drones “beyond visual line of sight,” according to a company blog post.

The FAA said the approval is currently applicable to College Station, Texas. Amazon began drone deliveries there 2 years ago.

Amazon said the latest approval “lays the foundation” to further expand drone deliveries across the nation,
