Twitter employees who donated to campaigns gave overwhelmingly to Democrats: FEC

Nearly all Twitter employees who made online campaign contributions donated to Democrats in 2021, according to data from the Federal Elections Commission (FEC).

Analysis by the New York Post shows that 99% of personal contributions by employees went to ActBlue, the Democratic Party's fundraising platform. Only eight of the 569 total donations by employees were made to WinRed, the Republican fundraising counterpart. 

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) received the largest GOP donation of $250 from former finance VP Rich Sullivan. The anti-Trump Republican is not running for reelection in 2022.

Donations to Democrats by Twitter staff totaled nearly $15,000, according to FEC data.

Ned Segal, Twitter's chief financial officer, gave the legal maximum of $5,800 to Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pa.), who is running for Senate in Pennsylvania. Lamb's open vulnerable House seat is being targeted by Republicans.

Head of corporate development Seksom Suriyapa, who has since left Twitter, donated the legal maximum to Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.).

A Twitter attorney, Even Stern, reportedly gave $2,900 to Democrat Sens. Mark Kelly (Az.) and Raphael Warnock (Ga.). He also gave $2,900 to John Fetterman, a Democrat running for Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate seat. 

Media Research Center watchdog Dan Gainor told the New York Post, “Their day to day actions also contribute to that political part… There was a time when you could give to one political party and still be fairhanded, but that time is long past.”
