Northrop Grumman says it will reveal next-gen stealth bomber in December
Defense company says flyer is "most advanced military aircraft ever built."
Defense contractor Northrop Grumman this week said it would reveal its highly anticipated next-generation stealth bomber in December, promising to show off the "most advanced military aircraft ever" at an invitation-only event.
The company said in a news release that it would "unveil the B-21 Raider during the first week of December at the company’s Palmdale, California facility."
“The B-21 is the most advanced military aircraft ever built and is a product of pioneering innovation and technological excellence,” Doug Young, sector vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems, said in the release. “The Raider showcases the dedication and skills of the thousands of people working every day to deliver this aircraft.”
The B-21 is expected to replace several current bombers in U.S. service. It is slated to be able to deliver both conventional and nuclear weaponry.
The company said that six different B-21s "are in various stages of final assembly" at the Palmdale facility.
