President Donald Trump on Friday confirmed that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent would not become his official artificial intelligence (AI) czar, dispelling recent rumors.

"Scott Bessent will not be going to be Super Intelligence (SI) Czar. Number One, he doesn’t want to. Number Two, he’s doing such a great job at Treasury, and that’s where I want to keep him! Why would I ever make such a change? Just more Fake News!" he posted on Truth Social.

"Super Intelligence" is Trump's name for AI. He has floated the rebranding of the technology in recent weeks, arguing that it is a more accurate description. He also said that he discussed the matter with Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom he said was open to the rebranding.

Bessent has served in the Treasury role since the start of Trump's term, and earned accolades for his stewardship of the federal finances amid the tumult from Trump's reordering of global trade networks.
