Crypto investor charged for allegedly kidnapping, torturing Italian tourist for weeks, police say

The suspect, John Woeltz, 37, appeared in court Saturday. He is being held without bail on charges including kidnapping, assault and unlawful imprisonment.

A cryptocurrency investor has been charged for allegedly kidnapping and torturing of Italian tourist for more than two weeks, police said on Saturday.

The tourist, 28, reportedly told police that the torture occurred in the suspect's luxury apartment in New York City.

The suspect, John Woeltz, 37, appeared in court Saturday. He is being held without bail on charges including kidnapping, assault and unlawful imprisonment.
