The Trump administration has put forward a plan to charge more than $100,000 for each new H-1B visa application, marking an increase to the original $100,000 planned fee that faced legal pushback.

The H-1B visa program is intended to import skilled foreign workers when Americans are unavailable to fill a position. The program has faced considerable fraud, however, and become a point of criticism from immigration hawks.

The Department of Homeland Security proposed the new, $103, 265 fee on Monday in a bid to curb abuse, Politico reported.

Such a move will likely reignite litigation, which previously blocked the original fee plan.
