A dark money group backing Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed erroneously labeled him as a "veteran" in a publication and has blamed a grammatical error for the confusion.

The Michigan Independent, an outlet tied to the American Independent, the David-Brock-led, Soros-funded left-wing network, issued the original claim.

“El-Sayed — veteran, doctor, and former health official — is Democratic Senate pick," read a Michigan Independent. El-Sayed has never served in the military, nor is he licensed to practice medicine.

American Independent Foundation President Joe Conason told the Washington Free Beacon that the error was the result of a misplaced comma.

“The error occurred when a new headline was written for the print edition,” he said. “It was supposed to say that he was a ‘veteran doctor and public health official,’ ie, ‘veteran’ modifying those two terms.”
