Kamala Harris becomes first sitting VP to visit a Planned Parenthood
Harris is currently on a tour titled “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms."
Kamala Harris on Thursday visited a Planned Parenthood, making her the first sitting vice president to visit an abortion provider publicly.
“I’m here at this health care clinic to uplift the work that is happening in Minnesota as an example of what true leadership looks like,” Harris said in the clinic lobby, according to CNN.
Harris is currently on a tour titled “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms."
Her Minnesota visit was the sixth stop on the tour.
“The reason I’m here is because this is a health care crisis,” Harris said. “Part of this health care crisis is the clinics like this that have had to shut down and what that has meant to leave no options with any reasonable geographic area for so many women who need this essential care.”
Other states Harris has visited on the tour so far include Arizona, California, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
