Bernie Sanders says he's uncomfortable about Trump's ban from Twitter

Self-proclaimed democratic socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders said he felt uncomfortable about Twitter banning Donald Trump while he was still president.

"Look, you have a former president in Trump, who was a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe, a pathological liar, an authoritarian, somebody who doesn't believe in the rule of law. This is a bad news guy," Sanders, a Vermont Independent, said in a New York Times interview published Tuesday. "Do I feel particularly comfortable that the then-president of the United States could not express his views on Twitter? I don't feel comfortable about that."

Sanders argued that if social media platforms could ban someone like Trump, they could ban anyone, including those like him with different points of view, according to Fox News.

Sanders isn't the only politician critical of Trump to defend the former president's right to free speech. French President Emanuel Macron came to the defense of Trump when he was originally banned by the big tech company after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“I don’t want to live in a democracy where the key decisions and the decision to, at a point of time, to cut your mic … is decided by a private player, a private social network,” reported by OPIndia.
