Billionaire donor Timothy Mellon gives $50 million to Trump super PAC

Billionaire businessman Timothy Mellon made a $50 billion donation to a super PAC backing former President Donald Trump.
Mellon was born to one of the wealthiest families in the U.S., according to Time Magazine. He has also made donations to Democrat-turned-independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., NBC News reported.
The $50 million contribution came one day after the 45th president was convicted in his New York hush money trial, federal documents show.
In April, the Trump campaign announced that it had raised $50 million during a fundraiser event in Palm Beach, Florida, The Associated Press reports.
President Joe Biden has also received donations from wealthy individuals, including former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who $20 million to a PAC backing the Democratic president.
Biden recently held a fundraiser in Los Angeles, California with celebrities Jimmy Kimmel and Julia Roberts in attendance. The campaign reports he raised over $30 million, CBS News reports.
